NSI meets with the Fishing Industry in Walvis Bay
6th, May 2010The Namibian Standards Institution (NSI) held its annual meeting with representatives of the fishing industry at Walvis Bay on 6 May 2010. The meeting was chaired by the NSI CEO, Riundja Ali Kaakunga (Othy) and the main objective of the gathering was to discuss issues of mutual concern.
The meeting was attended by more than 30 representatives of the fishing industry.
The General Manager: Regulatory and Consumer Protection, Dr. Eino Mvula gave a presentation on the NSI Testing and Inspection Services to explain the types of services provided by the NSI, the accreditation status of the Testing and Inspection function and preparation towards the accreditation of the NSI Food Laboratories. Other issues that were discussed, was amongst others food safety regulations in Namibia and Heavy Metal and Microbiological Testing.
The meeting also provided an opportunity for the industry to ask questions and give feedback on the services rendered by the NSI. The NSI regularly meets with its clients from the fishing industry at Walvis Bay to provide the platform for two-way communication. This is but one way in which the NSI aims to continuously improve its operational efficiency and effectiveness (as defined in the NSI Strategic Plan 2008-2012).
