The establishment of the Biotoxins Laboratory

The NSI Biotoxins Laboratory in Walvis Bay was established with the purpose to provide testing for marine biotoxins such as Diarrhetic Shellfish Poisoning (DSP), Paralytic Shellfish Poisoning (PSP) and Amnesic Shellfish Poisoning (ASP) that accumulate in shellfish. The Laboratory is run by a manager with appropriate qualifications assisted by a qualified biotoxin scientist and several biotoxins laboratory technician who recently received on-the-job training from Thai experts on biotoxins testing, at Walvis Bay.
